About Center To Page

from Jeff

Yoga screwed up my life in all the right ways.  I took my first yoga class when I was nineteen, and I had little idea what I was doing. Still, it felt right. It took over another ten years, though, before yoga transformed my writing practice and profession.  By 30, I was an unhealthy, cranky, workaholic vegetarian. Yoga, though, helped me let go of things I thought important and tend to what truly was important.  I regained my concentration and imagination and uncovered those things called emotions--facets that deepened my writing if not my humanity.  My skeptical inquiry into ancient yogic texts and into neuroscience and psychology have confirmed much of my experience as has my training in the Vanda Scaravelli Method with Michelle Andrei and Irene Beer, Jivamukti-inspired vinyasa with Debi DiPeso, and the principles of Anusara Yoga alignment with Joe Palese. I have traveled to Greece to study with Angela Farmer and Victor von Kooten and to Southern India to study with TKV Desikachar and his family of teachers at the Krishnamacarya Yoga Mandiram. Personal experiences & experimentation, research, and training led me to found the Yoga As Muse for Authentic Writing workshops and Center To Page Writing Services in 1999. I'm always secretly pleased that this integration works so magically for other writers (and musicians and artists).

Center To Page was born to fill a void in writing coaching and instruction.  My years in academia and in coaching bear a simple truth: We writers often hone in myopically on craft without considering consciousness, intention, and vision, let alone the very vessel that influences imagination and language sensibility - body.

Through Center To Page mentoring & editing, we build personable relationships with seasoned writers and fresh writers alike. You have your vision and voice. My job is to help you maintain your authenticity and write from a surprising source of verve, confidence, and richness. Our journey together can lead you toward "mentor texts" and other publications that might help you grow as a writer and potentially find an audience for your voice.  It also might take you down the path of securing an agent - if such a decision is right for your intentions - or in selling a book proposal.

Through workshops, retreats, and courses, I also create safe yet challenging spaces for writers and people curious about their creativity. Participants come away not just with extraordinary experiences that might integrate yoga's principles and practices into a creative journey; they return home equipped with a set of tools and the confidence and versatility to change their writing habits, process, and style

We're also committed to building an intelligent, forward-thinking community of other teachers, artists, writers, and visionaries who are imagining how creativity can help bring intentional change to the world.

Each time you show up, may you move from your center to the page.
