THE LIFEBRIDGE SANCTUARY is the place in the Hudson Valley to retreat for deep creativity, reflection, and inspiration. Barbara L. Valocore co-founded The Lifebridge Foundation with her father, Paul M. Hancock, in 1992. Barbara oversaw the design and construction of the 12,000 square-foot eco-built Sanctuary in 2005. It houses groups affiliated with the United Nations, creativity, and visionary decision-making. All design appointments are simple, graceful, and mindful.

We will have the Sanctuary and the 95 acres of paths, cliffs, woods, and ponds to ourselves.

 

Our regular meeting room with be what we fondly call the "Ark Room," a spacious third-floor room surrounded by windows and doorways outward. But you also will find nooks in the library, the courtyard, and other secret corners for your own practice and writing.

A generously sized kitchen and dining room allow us plenty of room to nourish ourselves and convene with convivial meals. You also may bring your own food and snacks should you have special needs.

Available lodging rooms will vary according to retreat size, but register early to get your favorite room. 

We will be very mindful about pairing you off with other writers.  We'll put night owls with night owls, the quiet ones with quiet ones, and so forth. A few private rooms will be available at an extra cost, but previous participants with roommates usually leave with a new friend.
