Journey from the Center
Yoga as Muse for Authentic Writing

 Mentoring, Coaching, and Editing for Writers:
Center toPage Writing Services

Writing is difficult. No way around that fact. It demands self-discipline, persistent sweat, a working knowledge and command of craft, and the willingness to be truthful both with one's self and with one's subject. Although writing does require self-confidence and hours of solitude, most writers benefit from getting perspective about their writing from someone they trust.

Jeff offers that trustworthy perspective to several writers around the country. Drawing from his seventeen years' experience as a professional writer, creative writing instructor,and international workshop leader, Jeff offers his services as mentor, coach, and editor.

Center to Page Mentoring and Coaching is a unique relationship between Jeff and another writer that helps the writer ultimately trust her or his own authority, voice,, and process.

Writers benefit from a versatile combination of tools--
ongoing responses to the writer's manuscripts;
dialogues about the writer's craft, style, and voice;
exercises addressing intention, process, and emotional crags & hazards;
exercises to help a writer glean intuitive and imaginative insight into her or his manuscriptand writing process;
weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly "tasks" designed to help  each writer stay accountable to herself or himself.

Mentoring takes place in person, over the telephone, and/or through e-mail.

Center to Page Editing works on two levels for essay, short story, and book-length fiction or non-fiction manuscripts.
Global editing offers writers perspective on a manuscript's larger matters such as structure, thematic development & resonance, voice, style, suitability for publication, and more. A global edit comes with Jeff's handwritten "reader's responses"on the manuscript, a thorough editorial letter (usually 5-10 pages for book-length manuscripts), and a follow-up telephone conference.
Copyediting helps writers clean up their style, grammar, and punctuation so they can present their manuscript professionally. Copyediting balances suggestionsabout economy, readability, and grammar with those on stylistic flair andvoice.

Comments on Jeff's Workfrom Other Writers
"Thank youJeff for being my guide. . . . Writing and working with you and the goal of writing a book is like the
    declaration that I can run a 10K race at a time when I could barely run to the end of the block without thinking I was going to die."--Elizabeth Clark, writer, Dallas

"Jeff Davis is a superb editor. Draft by draft, he tracks the writer's intentions in such a nuanced, multi-faceted way that the end result feels miraculously fresh and yet somehow fully intended. Anyone serious about crafting prose could not find a more capable and caring guide."
--Keith Kachtick, author of Hungry Ghost (HarperCollins), New York

"You nailed all the difficulties/issues I've felt but have not been able to articulate as well as you did. . . . Your kind and shrewd review has me all fired up to get practicing and writing again. . . .Thanks for walking a part of the path with me."
--Bridget Boland,writer, Dallas

"Some of your comments I expected, but you've done an excellent job of verbalizing them and backing them up with specifics. I am very impressed with your thoroughness and glad I hired you."
