Stone and Flesh: The Yoga of Lucid Writing

Join us for five days and nights of holistic bliss at Finca La Maya, a gorgeous retreat situated on the coast an hour outside of Panama City.  Being awake to "the dialogue of stone and flesh" can lead to lucid writing, a way of writing full of surprise, insight, and a little challenge. Through lucid writing, we attempt to know through our senses what is real without the smudge of preconceptions and judgments.

 You’ll discover how yoga’s tools of movement, breath, and image can deepen your one-pointed concentration, help you access your imagination’s deep layers, and let you write in the lucid present. All sessions include a seamless weaving of dialogue; research drawn from Jeff’s explorations into wonder and human consciousness; yogic skillful means such as movement, breath work, & meditation; readings by renown writers; and experiential writing exercises that blend yoga with writing. You may come with your own writing project or come completely open to what writing we will generate in the moment. Newbies, aspiring writers, and professional writers are welcome and will benefit.  No yoga experience required.

 Possible Topics & Tentative Schedule

Each morning will include a half hour of lucid yoga, appropriate for anybody (& any body) plus a two-hour to two-and-a-half-hour session that will blend yoga tools with writing experiences.  Each afternoon will include a two-hour Soul of Craft workshop in which we will discuss facets of craft and share our writings in a safe, honest environment.

  Day 3: Perception: Where a Writer’s Worlds Overlap

 Day 4: Earth Tongue: Re-Spelling Forgotten Words

Rates vary according to the type of room you choose and the date of your registration.

The workshop fee includes three delicious meals and beverages, comfortable lodging at Finca La Maya, transportation to and from the Panama airport, and all tuition & course materials.  It does not include airfare and travel expenses, but the friendly staff at Finca La Maya can help you with your travel agenda.
