Awaken your creative vision. Take the journey to Taos' inspiring mountains for six days and five nights. EYES WRITE our stories sometimes. We rely on what we think we see, remember, and imagine. What happens when we write with embodied vision? What happens to our stories and poems when Yoga awakens our outward perception & inner gaze, our underground imagination & the deep memory of our heart's eye? What happens to our writing when we draw or paint - and what happens to our art when we write? What we think we know about our subject, our stories, our medium, our memories, and even of ourselves could become delightfully challenged. When what we think we know as writers unravels, perhaps we can begin to see the unknown and hence begin to write - and re-write - from a source of wonder, of venture, of fearless authenticity. Whether you are writing a memoir, simply percolating your creative curiosity, writing poetry, writing songs & music, teaching students the art of writing, developing a scholarly book, drafting a novel, re-shaping your short stories, or sketching or sculpting or painting as a visual artist, this retreat - TO SEE THE UNKNOWN - welcomes you. Seasoned & fresh writers alike attend these retreats and mutually benefit. Absolutely no yoga background is required. The yoga is adaptable for every body. We'll move, sit, write, sketch, and explore the outdoors. We'll study the works & words of Annie Dillard, Diane Ackerman, & more; create some more; and share. We'll open our eyes and close them that we may see afresh. We'll leave with new writing, new views, and new friends. EXPERIENCE THE WONDER of using yoga as your muse with author and yogi JEFF DAVIS. Six days and five nights of workshop and retreat, solitude and conviviality at the magical MABEL DODGE LUHAN HOUSE in TAOS, NEW MEXICO, where you can visit with the ghosts of D. H. Lawrence, Georgia O'Keeffe, and the like. You will have the freedom to do as you wish at this retreat. Collectively, though, we will explore the tricky nature of vision that affects our creative process and how to re-vision our creative work without attachment. Between the generous free time, we will gather to explore how Yoga can be woven into our creative process & to write & create, to wander outdoors for Jeff's new vision field experiences, and to share our work and journey. All activities are optional. Absorb the free time & wide new Mexico space to honor your muse, to walk to the Taos Plaza, to hike in the Taos Ski Valley, to walk-n-talk with a new friend, to visit the Taos Pueblo, to meet with Jeff for a private coaching session, or to rejuvenate your spirit & soul.
