ABOUT THE STEWARDS

HILLARY THING has an abiding passionate curiosity in healing, Integral Studies, and herbalism - both Chinese and Western.  Hillary  (MS, LAc.) is Founding Director of EARTHBOUND APOTHECARY & ACUPUNCTURE CENTER in Kingston, NY, where she treats clients and sells her EARTHBOUND herbal products.

HILLARY is one of the few acupuncturists in the country who grows Chinese herbs on U.S. soil and who makes fresh Chinese herbs available to other practitioners.

Hillary is a faculty member at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City where she is a Clinical Supervisor at the Hospital for Joint Diseases and teaches a variety of advanced courses on Chinese immunology, cardiology, and psychology

Hillary has trained extensively with Jeffrey Yuen,
renowned Taoist Master and teacher of classical Chinese medicine.

Hillary has also studied
animal tracking, bird language, primitive living skills and natural history at Tom Brown Jr.’s school, and with Jon Young, Charles Worsham, and other inspiring teachers. These passionate pursuits enrich her teachings and graciously interweave with the fields of herbalism and yoga.

A certified herbalist, she has a Certification in Gardening with a specialty in Native Plant Species from the Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, NY.

Hillary tends the WEN Gardens and is developing an herbal apprenticeship program and our HERBALISM / EARTH STUDIES classes & workshops.

Author of THE JOURNEY FROM THE CENTER TO THE PAGE: Yoga Philosophies and Practices as Muse for Authentic Writing (Penguin) and a national workshop leader, JEFF DAVIS studies the ways that yoga facilitates creative productivity, heightened awareness of creative states of consciousness, and an intimate relationship with the natural world.

With an M.A. in English and a focus on poetics and philosophical hermeneutics, Jeff serves as faculty mentor to MFA students at Western Connecticut State University's MFA in Professional Writing Program.

Jeff also will be among the first yoga teachers certified in the GREEN YOGA TEACHER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM held at California's Mount Madonna Center.

In 2007, Jeff will begin the first long-term study of YOGA AS MUSE's effects on MFA students' creative productivity, and in 2008 JEFF's CENTER TO PAGE Team will launch the very first YOGA AS MUSE FACILITATOR TRAINING.

Certified in two traditions of Yoga whose origins stem from the teachings of Sri J. Krishnamacarya,  Jeff also has studied in-depth yoga, yoga therapy, and meditation with Krishnamacarya's son and grandson, Sri TKV Desikcachar and Kasthub Desikachar, in Chennai, South India.

All of Jeff's teachers emphasize a way of yoga without attachments to human gurus and with a natural trust of the body, breath, and earth.

Jeff tends to the WEN Barn where he offers ongoing YOGA AS MUSE FOR AUTHENTIC CREATIVITY Classes and One-Day YOGA AS MUSE Introductions & Retreats at WEN BARN & GARDENS. He also offers WEN YOGA CLASSES and By-Donation WEN MEDITATION SESSIONS.
