Weather Forecast
poem by Adriana DiGennaro and image by Lou Pollock

A periwinkle sky at nine, with real violet powder mixed in
the cream blue. Trees are black against it.
It's 71 degrees and fair, wind coming in from the southeast
a sleepy seven miles.

The weather forecast tilts its complacent baby face up to
me, and there I see a series
of seven yellow spheres, each with one corresponding.
cloud, cloned on the rectangle of this white week.

Periwinkle sky now soft, like bed sheets in a rich girl's
room.  It is coloring in its own processes.
Tomorrow the sun will be a blond best friend, jumping on
the morning mattress with an armful of oranges.
