Yoga as Muse for Authentic Writing

The Yoga of Writing with Compassion--for the Good, the Bad, and the Downright Depraved

A WORKSHOP with JEFF DAVIS

WRITING IN THE SHADE

To write--and to live--authentically, we often must embrace repulsive people and characters as well as view topics complexly. In this workshop, we explore how yoga, especially by opening the heart region (the Anahata), helps us "write and live in the shade," in the darker spaces of human experience. "Active compassion" or karuna is what Jeff calls the Fourth Limb of Writing. In this workshop, we will move, breathe, imagine, write, and share. No yoga experience required.

THIS WORKSHOP CAN HELP  YOU. . .

  • write about yourself & others—fictional or not—complexly and truthfully
  • engage the world of objects compassionately
  • use your subtle embodied imagination for writing through simple yoga, breathing, and “living” exercises
